1) How much will it cost to fix my metal roof?

Everything comes down to cost.  Every building is different in its design and therefore problem solving is not always a simple equation.  However we believe it is better to spend the right amount on a quality product and service than spend too little and it having to cost the client more in the long run.

2) Is it more feasible to replace my roof or to refurbish it?

Generally the cost of an extensive roof refurbishment is about 50-60% of the cost of a new roof.  This will also include a maintenance plan fabricated for the specific building needs.

3) Is there a need to maintain my roof?  If so, why?

Yes, the roof of a building is one of a company's greatest assets.  After all it protects the company's business, stock, employees, etc.  Building costs can be very costly to a company, and thus the correct maintenance programmes need to be established for task specific businesses.  By implementing the correct maintenance programmes for the right building, the life span of that building can be vastly increased.

4) We recently had waterproofing done, why do we need your help?

Often contractors, looking for an easy way to make money will provide you with the cheapest solution.  This can frequently be in the form of a waterproofing membrane.  However, these waterproofing membranes can actually speed up the corrosion of your sheeting.  The bandage used often promotes the presence of water between the metal on metal laps and will decrease the lifespan of your roof.  We will provide the right product and service and endeavour to solve any problem.

5) Is there a green roofing solution?

Yes, by maximising the use of natural elements such as natural lighting and natural ventilation you can decrease your carbon footprint on the earth.  These systems mean less expense on air conditioning and lighting costs which also decreases overheads.  Protective coatings to maintain the steel structure also prolong the longevity of your building and contribute to a greener roofing solution.

6) Why does my roof leak?

Generally, this is due to; lack of maintenance; fasteners are beyond their lifespan;  side laps, end laps have corroded either due to waterproof membranes installed on the laps or poor maintenance measures; and/or  incorrect design/installation of flashing details.  All of these are issues we have solved in the past with our experience within the industry.

7) Why does my gutter leak?

This may be either due to extreme corrosion, or a common mistake in roofing is the under sizing of gutter systems.  They often do not have the capacity to cope with these 1/100 year storms we have been experiencing recently.  We offer a solution to engineer a design to cope with a 1/100 storm for your buildings unique requirements.

8) What is the benefit to having insulation installed in my building?

Insulation offers your building reduced heat transfer through sheeting, thereby minimising energy consumption.  Insulation can help create the ideal ambient temperature inside the building, either cooler in summer, or warmer in winter.

9) How long should my metal roof last?

A brand new building should in theory last between 10-15 years for galvanised sheets and 20-25 years for Chromadek sheets.  However depending on the location and atmosphere the building is subjected to this may vary.  The lifespan of a roof is also greatly dependant on its maintenance.  Without the correct maintenance this lifespan will shorten exponentially, however, with the correct annual maintenance plan the longevity of the building may last well beyond 15years.

Will your roof work disturb our factory's production?

The technique's we have used over the years mean we are often working in a plant that is still fully operational.  We only work one section at a time and only leave a small area uncovered at any one time (Strip and Cover).  We have on many jobs put  counter measures such as safety nets in place to satisfy the plant managers requests so that we work together to achieve completion.

Do you comply with all Health and Safety Regulations?

Yes, we have an in depth safety file on every site with all the relevant documentation necessary.  Many of our employee's have been with us for over 20 years and have been trained in working from heights and fall arrest training, as well as safety harness training.  We have complied with companies that have had some of the most stringent safety protocol, such as Eskom, SAB and SCAW metals.

Do you guarantee your work?

With over 35 years of experience, we formulate client specific guarantees as well as a maintenance agreement that suits your building and your needs.  Many of our clients have come back to us 10-15 years after our original contract was been concluded.
